Ashtavinayak - Eight Abodes of Lord Ganesha

First Temple

Moreshwar Morgaon

Location: Morgaon, Pune District

The first and most important temple in Ashtavinayak circuit. The presiding deity is Moreshwar (Lord of the Peacock).

Unique Idol

Siddhivinayak Siddhatek

Location: Siddhatek, Ahmednagar District

Unique temple where the idol faces north. Lord Vishnu is believed to have worshipped Ganesha here.

Devotee's Temple

Ballaleshwar Pali

Location: Pali, Raigad District

Only temple named after a devotee, Ballal. The temple has a rich history dating back to 11th century.

Self-Manifested

Varadavinayak Mahad

Location: Mahad, Raigad District

One of the most visited temples. The idol is self-manifested (Swayambhu) and faces east.

Chintamani Gem

Chintamani Theur

Location: Theur, Pune District

Associated with the legend of the Chintamani gem. The temple is located on the banks of Mula-Mutha river.

Mountain Temple

Girijatmaj Lenyadri

Location: Lenyadri, Pune District

Only temple located on a mountain. Requires climbing 307 steps. The idol is carved out of a single stone.

Obstacle Remover

Vighnahar Ozhar

Location: Ozhar, Nashik District

Known as the remover of obstacles. The temple complex is large with beautiful architecture.

Mahaganapati Form

Mahaganapati Ranjangaon

Location: Ranjangaon, Pune District

The last temple in the circuit. The idol has 10 trunks and 20 hands, depicting the Mahaganapati form.
